Thank you to my dear friend, Mary Fetter, for sharing your Pride of Barbados seedling with me 2 springs ago. The first blossom popped out 4 days ago and it is now in full bloom, but this first one had been long awaited. Patience is a virtue... says an old saying, not from Proverbs, but true enough.

A Momentous Week!

Remembering July 24, 1977!
There were two cakes-- chocolate and a small carrot cake, homemade mango salsa and chips, champagne, and flowers from Mom, and Judy & Mike! Rachel made a colorful paper chain with 35 links and strung it across the fireplace mantle! It was a lovely party and fun way to celebrate 35 years! Thank you, my sweet daughters and partying friends!

A small tribute for my dear friend, Marilyn
Remembering Marilyn today on the 3rd anniversary of her passing over from the suffering and pain of a terrible illness to the care of Jesus' loving arms and the angels of heaven. I take comfort in knowing that Marilyn is in the Land of Glory with her Redeemer. Her sweet friendship, her perseverance, and her kind heart are a few of her stellar characteristics that I will always treasure.
Marilyn is wearing pink for her 30th wedding anniversary celebration 5 years ago. Our friend Kim wore a sparkly blouse. I went for the wilder side of 70's garb.

Women Alive! - You Rock!
Women Alive! Back row: Cindy Atwell, Nanette Dew, Jean Austin Front row: Karen Joe, me, Kim Thonhoff, Jeri Lyn Sump, Debra Ayoub Missing: Tammy Santos |
We began
our study group, “Women Alive!” on Tuesday, May 29, 2007 with a book study
guide, A Modern Girls Guide to Bible Study by Jen
Hatmaker, which included studying passages from various parts of the Bible.
Then, using Jen's suggested schedule, we studied 1 & 2 Peter and Ruth. We
concluded the year with Road
Trip by Jen Hatmaker.
In 2008, we studied Acts, Romans, Philippians, 1 & 2 Thessalonians, 1, 2 & 3 John, and Jude using the journaling strategies learned in A Modern Girls Guide to Bible Study.
In 2009, we continued using the journaling strategies learned in A Modern Girls Guide to Bible Study for our studies of Galatians, Ephesians, Colossians, and 1 & 2 Corinthians. In the fall, we studied Giving to God by Mark Allen Powell in conjunction with a church-wide ministry appeal. In December we had miscellaneous Advent devotions.

In January 2010, we began a 2-year schedule of reading through the Chronological Study Bible (RKJV). In September of 2011 we decided to shorten the length of the weekly readings so that we could better comprehend what we were reading, even though it would lengthen our 2-year goal.

Today, June 19, 2012, we read our last
chapters of Revelation, and concluded with a very brief synopsis from Pastor
Brad Highum, who is leading a study of Revelation with the Tuesday Morning Bible
Study Group. We closed the study with a prayer and a group picture in front of
the Cross Wall.
